LEATHER AND KNITS

posted on: Wednesday, December 26, 2012

The first prelsale buy and my Christmas gift has arrived just in time for me to wear it right after Christmas itself. ( I did sneak sport it sometime earlier..).
Today has been a really busy day, shooting (I mentioned earlier) and me and Ch reorganizing the apartment and with all the sales started it's like a shopping wonderland!
I paired my beautiful buttery soft leather pants with an Hope Grand sweater as I though the silhouette to be killer, especially seen in profile. I mean the curve of the sweater and oversized leather go so well together that I could wear a combo like this all the time..
P.S I have a great tip when it comes to sale:Don't bother to spend lots of money buying the thing you wanted previous seasons(except the shoes-they never really come out of fashion), but but something that is 1)Special, 2)Goes well for everyday occasions and nighttime 3)you can already fit into your wardrobe. I promise you that aren't that many garments that fit into this criteria and whimp,! the shopping is made easy...
Or at least for my part....

KEEPING IT SIMPLE

posted on: Saturday, December 22, 2012

I have to admit that in Christmas rush I haven't had the time to post as much as I wish I would, but but...
So. this skirt is actually a part of a twin set (yupp, I own a twin set in tweed - but still - it's Balenciaga). However I was in the mood for just keeping it simple with a casual sweater and a bright clutch.I love the fact that the skirt almost looks holographic on the photos- an effect I was more than pleasantly surprised by as the intriguing brights are spot on for resort.
So, I am adding a pop of brights to my winter style as we barely see the sun nowadays...

A DAILY DOSAGE OF INSPIRATION

Although winter collections are slowly being replaced with resort and ss13 pieces I couldn't resist posting this lovely photo of Lou Doillon In Balmain captured for Madame Figaro. I have been more and mre addicted to this types of fashion photography that have a certain dose of realness in them as opposed to a posy editorial so for me this is a drop of inspiration heavily needed in this dark and gloomy days.

LEATHER PANTS

Leather pants was something I wanted to invest in for quite some time, yet never found the pair I really, really wanted. That is until I found these by Malene Birger which I have had on my mind lately, and  decided to get a pair when a pre-sale discount code landed in my mailbox. So, 40% off and a pair of kick-a** pants in the mail I can finally embrace winter, without being completely broke.

RELAXED

posted on: Wednesday, December 19, 2012

I have been on and off sick for the last couple of days, so my choice of clothing has been limited to the
relaxed sweaters and dressed. However with the temperature jumping to the 10*C I felt an urge to go out for a stroll with my love and the choice fell on this sweaterdress by ACNE.
It's so warm and fuzzy, yet the cut of it embodies everything that I love about ACNE-it's not just a sweater dress, it's cut in the way that it broadens the shoulders and smallens the hips, which gives such a flattering shape, yet it remains relaxed and comfy.
I love the vivid burgundy paired with electric blue, and I wanted to accentuate that with a bold colored and completely contrasting bag, and my favorite accessories by Cooee to give it some edge .
The rest of it I kept simple.

GIVENCHY SS13 AD

The first pics of SS13 ad's are starting to pop up here and there, and for the moment Givenchy is on top of my list. One of the reasons is that what I perceived as a rigorous collection, was unexpectedly softened by this ad. I am loving the fact that Mariacarla is still 'kicking butt' and the fact that this is her baby evokes a certain warmth to the always strong Gienchy ad.

LIGHT BLUE

posted on: Monday, December 17, 2012

For some reason I have been coveting light blue items lately.I have actually had this particular color on my mind since MFW, without any obvious reason. I would pair a blue sweater with silver leather pants or a blue crossbody with the olive green dress, just to make it pop a little bit extra.

DINNER

So, today was the day for the family Christmas dinner. Lovely having all the ppl here!
So, I am sporting my sharply cut Celine brocadepaisly blazer, which under many circumstances could be too much but the cut perfectly balances the heavy pattern. I paired it with my favorite pair of jeans and a simple T, to  emphasize the rockedge of it.
I am wearing Celine blazer, Marant T and Diesel jeans.

WINTER

OK, I know I haven't been the best blogger, but in my defense last couple of days have been messy...
But I really don't want to talk about it, so let's focus on fashion.
First of all big THANK you for all the attention received lately!
Now I haven't showed you my latest purchase-a sweater by House of Dagmar. I am so crazy about their knits, that Christian has been making fun of me for wanting all of them in all the available colors.
Also, I have been talking about leather on leather layering and this skirt with the boots is a perfect example of this.
So, I am still late with Christmas presents so today will be devoted to that...and Decorating Christmas tree...

I am wearing Dagmar sweaterm Givenchy skirt, Stella Mccartney boots, The Manual co bag and Tiger of Sweden gloves!

Have  a great weekend everyone!

GIVENCHY TOAD

So, I have been crazy about these heels since saw them some seasons ago now (I wasn't quick enough to secure a pair when they came out).
However, my love hasn't faded with time, and when I stumbled  on a pair on sale(?!that never happens to me) in a size up then my regular I was crazy enough to click them home. This proved to be a good thing as for the first they were sold out within hours, and the second thing is that they, amazingly enough, fit perfectly!
Now, I just need to wait for snow to melt so that I can take them out for a stroll...

PREFALL: PHILLIP LIM,PROENZA SCHOULER, PRABAL - PERFECT

So, Pre-fall collections have started to roll in. In oppose to the main shows that sometimes feel set up just for show-case, pre-fall are  more street and  much more everyday wear. I think that every year I my inbetween colletions favourite are always the same: Phillp, Proenza and Prabal- my Holy Trinity, the ones's I turn to for inspo.
I love that tweed is back (in more modern way), accompanied by the neoprene (those jackets will probably drive me insane waiting on them.)And those boots at Prabal!

SOMETHING ABOUT IT

The perfectly tailored tweed cape,, the crisp tuxedo shirt messily tucked in and the black cigarette trousers are currently appealing to my aesthetics.  There is something so strong yet so simple about the styling and photo that, I am time after time coming back to this photo fro a dose of inspiration.
There is something je ne sais quoi about it...

SWEATERDRESS

posted on: Monday, December 10, 2012

I have to admit that with low temperatures here, layering and knits are the only thing that makes sense wearing. I for my part have become a big fan of sweaterdresses. They are very easy to wear and even on the days I am not very inspired they are my go-to.
My current favorite is this one from Isabel Marant Etoile in a perfect shade of army green and with slightly enlarged sleeves, just to give it structured silhouette. Paired here with an oversized peacoat and stripey scarf.

Sweaterdress from Isabel Marant, Peacoat from D&G(men's department),by Malene Birger purse and ACNE Tess boots.
Scarf is from H&M last year's season and the gloves are from Tiger of Sweden

IRREVERENT

These cold dull days have been  making me crave for inspiration that seems is nowhere to be found.
However, for days like this I have fashion books stocked up and my latest indulgence is 'Irreverent' by C.R. What always inspires me about her styling is that is one of the things considered evergreen (I picked the word from my mother)-always highly actual, and never a irrelevant.
Browsing through the pages was a constant reminder that although fashion can be a bypassing fling, style remains eternal.
It's actually a constant reminder, that in this age where everyone has a camera and blogs, I want to remain something constant, and not throw away my whole wardrobe next time  fashion direction changes. It has become a certain rule of thumb both when I choose what to wear and when I shop.

NEW IN - WONDERFUL COOEE

posted on: Sunday, December 9, 2012

For my part Christmas has come early,as so many wonderful goodies have been arriving in the mail lately. Among them is great pieces from Cooee jewelry, that I have been craving for quite some time.
I am so thrilled that I have put them on display on my coffeetable as a part of the interior, soundly resting on 'Irreverent'.
I can't wait to show you some outfits wearing them.

FAVOURITE COMBO

posted on: Saturday, December 8, 2012

I am obviously late with the posting as bare legs as something that belongs to the past (or, October/November ), but lately it seems like I am late with everything. It's two weeks until Christmas and we are also veeeery late with Christmas presents and decorating.
But here is my favorite combo lately vintage sweater paired with heavy leather skirt and a touch of pink. I thought that the colors and details work so well together, that this has very quickly climbed on the top-want to wear everyday- list.
P.S My lens is finally back from repair shop, so I will post pics of some things new in, as Cooee jewlery and a pair of Givenchy heels.

I am wearing vintage sweater and jacket, Acne Startlet skirt and Balenciaga heels.

WHAT IS IN MY PURSE?

posted on: Wednesday, December 5, 2012

So, I was working on a project for Costume Norway and one of the questions was what is in my purse. Now, I only use small crossbody / over the shoulder purses as this limits the amount of things I can stuff in it (this rule due to bad experience on while shooting and having an enormous bag+ camera=lots of unnecessary weight and heavy lifting).
I think all the women are the sae -the bigger the bag-the more stuff you come up that you can carry with you.
Anyway, here is my sartorial everyday purse content:
1.card holder from Smythson
2. Moleskin notebook and a calendar
3.my phone
4.keys to home and work
5.Sunnies (you will probably see me more often wearing sunnies than umbrella)usually Ray Ban or Illestava
6.Handcream
7.Lipcream

ON TEXTURES AND NINJAS

posted on: Tuesday, December 4, 2012

So, I am again in all black.
However, a key to all black outfit is layering the different textures, which kind of works more than well with the freezing temperatures we have had here.
I have layered a fine knit with intricate sleeves, with jeans and pleather OTK boots. The  thing about all of this is that I am not freezing and at -10C it can almost sound impossible.
ANYWAY, I am also channeling a trend that I am big fan -and as the title revels  it's all about ninja and orient for my part. Orient is such a vast place of inspiration, from something as delicate as silk and handweaved brocade to the hardness of samurai armor and ninja art.And lately all aspect of the eastern culture have been intertwining with the fashion world, creating a certain uniqueness.
I am more than eager see the trend evolve.

P.S. What is your favorite trend for the season?

I am wearing Alexander Wang black sweater, Diesel jeans, Stella Mccartney OTK boots, H&M Trend coat and beanie is from H&M men,the bag is Manual.
